Bringing Awareness to Domestic Abuse
In light of the recent femicide in Stittsville, I was approached by a few successful small businesswomen to help plan and participate in a fundraiser to bring awareness to domestic violence. The outpouring of support from the community and local businesses was overwhelming to say the least.
Our venue was the new & stunning Showroom Furniture + Lighting; we had food donated by Mavericks Donuts, NeXt, Napolis Cafe, Anabella’s; wine from Kin Vineyards; beer from Kichissippi Beer Co and cider from Saunder’s Cider. We received so many door prizes that we decided to package some together and have a live auction. Guests also had an opportunity to have professional photos taken in a gorgeous living room setting taken by yours truly.
Over 100 women attended and together we raised $10,000 for Interval House Ottawa, and the live auction raised another $4,500 to help the Edmond’s family through this unimaginably difficult time.
Please keep the conversation going, sadly domestic violence is happening in our back yard.
